Mr. Barcelo represents high-technology companies in a variety of intellectual property matters, including prosecution, litigation, transactions, and counseling involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, domain names, and trade secrets.
Practice Areas Rey Barcelo’s practice focuses on the acquisition, protection, licensing, and litigation of intellectual property.
Mr. Barcelo’s practice also includes the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in diverse technical areas, including computer hardware and software, communication networks, telephony, radar, signal processing, electrical and electronic medical devices, Internet-related applications, semiconductors, image and video compression, and analog circuits.
Mr. Barcelo is often called upon to assesses intellectual property portfolios, evaluate the strength of competitors’ portfolios, negotiate and draft licenses, and conduct infringement and validity analyses.
Representive Legal Experience
Member of the litigation teams, often as lead counsel on patent issues, that have defended famous companies against charges of patent infringement in the fields of microprocessor architecture, hard disk drives, semiconductor packaging, printers, video game distribution systems, and cardiac pacemakers.
Member of the litigation teams that have asserted patents in the fields of plasma displays, digital video recorders, and semiconductor circuits.
Recently prepared and prosecuted patent applications relating to Internet-based mapping applications, video signal processing, and software simulator/debugger systems.
Taught a course on International Intellectual Property Transactions at Stanford Law School as an Adjunct Professor. |
